“If I didn’t paint I would explode. Painting allows me to have visual conversations with myself about the non-visual aspects of reality. The nature of the universe – micro to macro.” ~ Gini Illick
Gini’s training was in the classical Modernist tradition at the Barnstone Studios. Before that, she fell in love with Abstract Expressionism and it’s raw explosive power.
“Barnstone insisted on rigor, the European canon. I am an amalgam of these two explosive forces. Sort of like the forces of the universe which I am trying to understand, but really can’t. Yet.” ~ Gini Illick
