Join us as we welcome Marc Daniels for his annual Exhibit with “DOWN TO THE SEA”, an exhibit of his Famous Naval Battle Paintings and his Peacetime Naval Paintings.
Having been raised near Boston, Marc Daniels was the grandson of a Newfoundland sea captain who related many stories concerning the trials and adventures of life on the ocean. Marc’s first painting at age 9 was of a 12-meter racing boat with a billowing flying jib. One of his early playgrounds was the deck of the “Old Ironsides”, the U.S.S. Constitution in Charlestown, Mass. This current presentation at CityFolk includes an array of racing, working and fighting vessels. Research into the rigging, trim and profiles of various ships are an ongoing passion of this painter. Along with all other aspects of his work, learning the technical workings of watercraft was a self-taught endeavor. Each painting is original oil rendering of real or imagined scenes from our National past or present experience with the American Adventure.
